Paris Olympics 2024 Day 2 Updates: Indian badminton player PV Sindhu secures her first win; advances to the next round.

PV Sindhu, who won silver and bronze at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics, will play world No. 75 Kristin Kuuba from Estonia in her second group match on Wednesday.  

PV Sindhu opened her Paris Olympics 2024 campaign with a strong straight-game win over Maldives' Fathimath Abdul Razzaq on Sunday, seeking her third consecutive medal.   

Sindhu defeated her lower-ranked opponent 21-9, 21-6 in 29 minutes in the Group M match, demonstrating her skill discrepancy.   

The 10th-seeded Sindhu, who won silver and bronze in the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics, will play world No. 75 Kristin Kuuba from Estonia in her second group match on Wednesday.  

World No. 111 Fathimath struggled against the former world champion, who won the first game in 13 minutes. Sindhu led 4-0 in the second game.   

Sindhu led 10-3 after Razzaq closed at 3-4. Sindhu had 14 match points but needed one to win.  

Sindhu, world No. 13, will play Kristin Kuuba of Estonia on Wednesday in her next group encounter.
