How To Grow A Desert Rose Plant

Slow-growing desert roses (Adenium obesum) grow 12 inches each year. Desert rose is a popular bonsai plant because to its sturdy trunk, thin leaves, and deep pink trumpeting flowers.

Desert roses love full sun. Choose a south-facing windowsill or sunroom for enough daytime light.

Desert roses thrive on well-draining sandy or gravelly cactus soil. The soil pH should be neutral to acidic, approximately 6.0.

Desert rose needs damp but not wet soil in late spring and summer. Check the soil occasionally and let it dry up before watering.

3.

During active growth, feed your desert rose liquid fertilizer (diluted by half) once a month for more nutrition and blossoms.

4.

Sterilize your pruning tools with rubbing alcohol or bleach and re-sterilize between plants. As soon as fresh growth appears, remove cold-damaged growth. Balance stem growth by trimming long, lanky stems.
