P Chidambaram slams AIADMK over decision to ‘boycott’ Vikravandi by-poll: ‘Got instructions from top: Congress leader P. Chidambaram said on Sunday in a social media post that the AIADMK’s choice to “boycott” the Vikravandi assembly by-election was because of “instructions from the top.”

Chidambaram said that the party led by Edapaddi K Palansiwami was told to skip the by-election to “help” the chances of the BJP-led NDA, which is the current coalition at the Center.

P Chidambaram slams AIADMK over decision to ‘boycott’ Vikravandi by-poll: ‘Got instructions from top:

According to the statement, the move is strong proof that the AIADMK has been told from above to help the NDA candidate (PMK) win the election. A third party is being used by both the BJP and the AIADMK in this fight. “The INDIA bloc must make sure that the DMK candidate wins by a huge margin,” the former Union minister wrote on X.

The Tamil Nadu-based PMK, which is part of the NDA, put forward C Anbumani as the alliance’s joint nominee for the July 10 by-election. This was necessary because N Pugazhenthi, who was the current legislator for the assembly seat and was from the DMK led by chief minister MK Stalin, died. There will be a count of the votes on July 13.

A party called AIADMK, which used to work with the BJP, said on Saturday that it would not run in the by-election because it would not be “free and fair.”

The INDIA bloc won all 39 of Tamil Nadu’s parliamentary seats in the most recent Lok Sabha elections. The DMK and Congress took 22 and 9 seats, respectively. Also, V Vaithilingam of the Congress party beat A Namassivayam of the BJP in the only Lok Sabha seat in the nearby Union Territory of Puducherry. At the same time, the BJP said that the AIADMK is “afraid” of being found out.

“It is clear that the BJP has pushed the AIADMK to third place.” You can tell that we are strong because they are afraid that these midterm polls will show how weak they are. Since they were the alternative, they should have run for office. You have to fight in politics. The vice-president of the BJP in Tamil Nadu said, “It’s clear that you (AIADMK) have lost the will to fight.”
